A Love at First Sight-Wedding at The Briarcliff Manor
It’s obvious that Chivonne and Michael have an undeniable connection and love for each other – from instantly connecting at their old workplace, to walking down the aisle five years later. Take a look at how it all started, their memorable moments and how they ended up here with us celebrating such a special day in their lives.
Question: How did you two first meet?
Answer: We met at our old job.
Question: What was your first impression of each other?
Answer: Bride: I thought he was so handsome when we first met. Groom: I thought she had an awesome sense of humor.
Question: What was your first date?
Answer: A Yankee game. On the train ride home, I fell asleep on his shoulder. He recently just told one of my bridesmaids, who was asking him a series of questions for a game at the bridal shower, that was the moment he knew he wanted to marry me.
Question: Who said ‘I love you’ first?
Answer: He did.
Question: What is the most memorable date that you two shared?
Answer: Probably the Justin Timberlake concert we went to very early on in our relationship. He knew I loved him and he surprised me with AMAZING seats.
Question: Is there a favorite spot you two share?
Answer: We loved our honeymoon spot, Aruba, and plan to make that a special place we return to as often as we can. Annually, we take a trip up to Buffalo to see our favorite football team. We’ve done it every year since we started dated.
Question: Who met the in-laws first?
Answer: I did.
Question: What are your favorite things about each other?
Answer: Bride: My favorite thing about him is his kind heart. He is selfless and always thinking of others. Also, how he always manages to make me laugh. Groom: Her smile and sense of humor.
Question: When did you know that you were going to propose to her?
Answer: “Our first date, that’s when I probably started thinking about it.”
Question: What was your proposal like? Where was it?
Answer: Our proposal was a complete surprise. We were supposed to be going to his brother’s house for dinner. He had to run out, and was able to get his brother to bring me to the place I first said “I loved you” and he was waiting for me there. He made up some excuse that he wasn’t feeling well, so his brother drove me to where he was so I can drive him back. When I got out the car, he asked me if I remembered this spot. I said yes, he then said I have one more question, and got down on one knee. I was in complete shock. He then had both of our families and some friends back at his brother’s house for a celebration. It was the best surprise!
Question: How did you feel when he proposed?
Answer: I felt completely surprised, and on cloud nine. I knew we would eventually be getting engaged, but I had absolutely no clue it would happen the day that it happened.
Question: How long have the both of you known each other?
Answer: About 5 years.
Question: What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
Answer: Our first dance. The song had such meaning, since he told me years ago that we’d one-day dance at our wedding to it. To see that moment come to life was extremely special.
Question: How would you describe the style or theme of your wedding?
Answer: Simple, neutral colors, with a slight southern twist being at The Briarcliff Manor.
Question: What did you look most forward to? The wedding day, the ceremony, the honeymoon?
Answer: The day itself. Getting to see and have fun with all the people we love, many who we don’t get to see often, all in one place, there to celebrate us was something that we really looked forward to.
Question: What was the most fun detail of your wedding to plan?
Answer: The entrances, with the bridal party, were the most fun to plan. We really love to watch wrestling, and had each pair of the bridal party pick their own WWE entrance.
Question: What was the most unique detail at your wedding?
Answer: We had a few unique details to the wedding. Incorporating our love for wrestling with the bridal party entrances, and having our best friend officiate made it unique and personalized. I think the small batman on the bottom of our beautiful cake was a fun unique detail too! My husband LOVES batman.
Question: What was your something borrowed, something new and something blue?
Answer: My something old was my grandmother’s handkerchief, something new was my hair accessory, something borrowed was my bracelet, and my something blue was my shoes.
Question: To the Groom: What were you thinking when you saw her walking down the aisle?
Answer: “How lucky I am, and how beautiful she looked. I was excited and couldn’t wait to start the rest of our lives together.”
Question: What is the first thing the groom noticed about the bride when she walked down the aisle?
Answer: Groom: “How beautiful she looked.”
Question: Is there anything from your wedding day that you will keep as memorabilia?
Answer: We kept the cake topper and my bouquet. I put them into a shadow box together.
Question: What is “your song” and why?
Answer: Never stop (wedding version) by Safety Suit. On our first date, we were in the car and he said, “I want you to hear this song, we’re going to dance to this one day”. Five years later, it was our wedding song.
Question: Were their any family heirlooms that you cherished with you on the wedding day?
Answer: My grandmother’s handkerchief. She passed about a year ago and I was hoping to have something of hers to have with me on my wedding day. My mother was looking through my baby book for some pictures, and happened to find a handkerchief that she had given her for me. I held it with my flowers as I walked down the aisle.
Question: Who was your maid of honor and why?
Answer: My cousin was my Maid of Honor. We’ve grown up together and she’s always been by my side.
Question: Who was your best man and why?
Answer: My brother, because he is my best friend
Question: Did you have your honeymoon yet? How was it? Where was it?
Answer: We went to Aruba, it was absolutely amazing! The weather was incredible and the island was just beautiful. Their motto is “one happy island” and they mean it. The people of the island were so welcoming and friendly.
Question: How would you describe your wedding day in one sentence?
Answer: The best day ever, surrounded by the people we love most in the world.
