Wed in Style: Wedding at The Briarcliff Manor
On a beautiful sunny day in May of 2019, Tiffany and Latif exchanged vows and began their life long journey of love, and happiness. Incorporating their Nigerian cultural traditions, coupled with their intoxicating love, their day was one to remember! The two recently celebrated their 1st Wedding Anniversary. Tiffany and Latif, Congratulations once again, we wish you a life of endless love and happiness!

How did you two first meet? We met at a lounge in New York City.
What was your first impression of each other? Latif: Tiffany was beautiful and fashionable. Tiffany: Latif was cute and too skinny, but full of personality!
What was your first date? Our first date was a dinner date at Merchants, a restaurant in NYC.
Who said “I love you” first? Latif did.
What was the most memorable date you two shared? Our most memorable date was in Brooklyn, by Grand Army Plaza. We walked through the park and talked for hours.
What are your nicknames for each other? I like to call Latif “Mousey” and he calls me “Baby Love” .
Is there a favorite spot you two share? We both love Saadiyat Beach Club in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
Who met the in-laws first? Tiffany did.
What are your favorite things about each other? Latif: My favorite thing about Tiffany is that she is very organized. She plans everything. Tiffany: My favorite thing about Latif is that he is funny and loves to dance with me.
Do you have a special tradition on Valentine’s Day? We enjoy cuddling with each other and exchanging gifts.
To the Groom: When did you know you were going to propose to the bride?
What was your proposal like? Where was it? I proposed to Tiffany on a trip to Paris, It wasn’t exactly as planned, but it ended up perfectly.
How long have the both of you known each other? We have known each other for 6 years.
How long did you two date before you decided to get married? We dated for 4 years.
To the Bride: How did you feel when he proposed? I was excited and thrilled!
What was your favorite part of your wedding day? The entire day was amazing. It was everything I dreamed of and imagined. Latif enjoyed it, too! Our only wish was that it lasted longer!
How would you describe the style or theme of your wedding? The style of our wedding was classic and regal, paired with vibrant colors and Nigerian traditions.
What did you look most forward to? The wedding day, the wedding night, the honeymoon? All of it! But the wedding day was the absolute best. The Briarcliff Manor was gorgeous and exceeded every expectation. Our dreams were turned into reality.
What was the most fun detail of your wedding to plan? Too hard to choose just one, but we definitely enjoyed deciding on our wedding apparel.
What will be the most unique detail at your wedding?
What was your something old, something new and something blue? Something old – Tiffany’s grandmother’s wedding band. Something new – Our Nigerian/Yoruba traditional wedding clothing created in Lagos, Nigeria. Our something blue were the silk robes for the bridal party and our Wedding Broom.
To the Groom: What were you thinking when you saw her walking down the aisle? WOW! She’s so beautiful!
To the Groom: What is the first thing you noticed about the bride when you did the first look? I noticed how happy she was. I realized this was going to be a special weekend for us.
To the Bride: What is the first thing you noticed about the groom when you did the first look? He looked so handsome!
Is there anything from your wedding day that you will keep as memorabilia? Our Wedding Broom that we jumped over during the ceremony.
Were there any cherished family heirlooms that you had with you on the wedding day? Yes, we had pictures of my mother on the piano inside of The Briarcliff Manor, to remember her presence even though she could not be with us that day.
What is “your song” and why? We have so many songs, it was hard to choose just one. We decided on Gbese – a Nigerian dance song that ended up being played and replayed throughout our wedding night.
Who was your maid of honor and why? My matron of honor was my “big sister” from high school. We have known each other for over 20 years.
Who was your best man and why? My best man was my younger brother who has been my best friend my entire life.
How would you describe your wedding day in one sentence? Our wedding day was an absolute dream come true!
Tell us about your honeymoon: Yes, we vacationed in Dakar, Senegal and Sal, Cape Verde I It was the best. We had great food, great drinks, cultural experiences, and amazing beaches.
